Laavanya Rachakonda

About me:

Dr. Rachakonda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She received her Ph.D. and Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering department under Dr.Saraju P Mohanty in Smart Electronic System Laboratory (previously known as Nano system Design Laboratory) from the University of North Texas, Denton in May 2021 and Dec 2019 respectively. She earned her Bachelors of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from VMTW, JNTUH, India, in 2015.

Currently, she is working with a diverse multi-disciplinary research group of High Schoolers, Undergraduates and Graduates as the Director of the SIPS: Smart and Intelligent Physical Systems Laboratory at UNCW. As a faculty at UNCW, she has been involved in many outreach activities involving the broaden of participation in Carolinas Women in Computing and in STEM. Her primary research includes developing and improving computational methods using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in areas which include Smart Healthcare, Transportation, Vehicle and Living Domains. She is also including Security and Privacy aspects to the areas she is focusing on. Her interests can be grouped into IoMT Based Approaches for Smart Healthcare and IoT-Enabled Consumer Electronics for Smart Living.

She believes that in order to succeed in life, fulfill any dream, we must first trust and believe that we can. Considering the growth of technology she strongly agrees that one way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals. She cherishes, inspires and respects the people and situations around her making her life easier. Sports, dancing, reading novels, singing, cooking, home decorating are her pastime activities.
